Two-phase adaptive reuse renovation of a historic home built in 1908 for this private, non-profit organization. The Wellness Community provides support services for cancer patients and their families. Phase I consisted of the conversion of an existing 350 SF building into The Pavilion for group meetings. Phase II was the demolition and remodel of the back portion of the 3,200 SF main house adding second floor offices and a back patio. Also included was the structural rebuild of the foundation and second floor, a new roof, addition of handicap access to the main house and gutting / reskinning the exterior of two (2) of the three buildings. Phase II also included conversion of a 280 SF garage into a Meditation Studio. Most of the construction services and materials were donated not only by hardison/downey, but the subcontractors as well. An additional project for this center was in conjuction with the Phoenix Suns Charities to renovate the historic pavilion behind the house into an exercise and fitness space. This project was the 2010 Phoenix Suns charity.
