Architect: DWL Architects + Planners
New construction of the ASU Barrett Honors College for developer American Campus Communities (ACC) on Arizona State’s main campus in Tempe. This “campus-within-a-campus” boasts a seven-building, 563,000 sf area consisting of six (6) residential towers: three (3) seven-story, two (2) six-story and one (1) four-story, plus a multi-level (one-, two- and five-story) multi-use building that includes residential, classrooms, offices and a student dining facility. The project adds 601 residential units with 1,720 beds for the use of students enrolled in the Barrett Honors program. Construction consists of masonry walls and precast plank floors. Additionally, there is a major steel component to the multi-level building. Site improvements are also included in the project. The Barrett campus features a sustainable living community, with low-consumption plumbing fixtures, enhanced energy monitoring, a green roof and an organic garden offering students the opportunity to study and experience sustainable living concepts. This project earned LEED® Gold Certification after initially targeting Silver.
