The hardison/downey management team works together to oversee the daily operations of the company, including manpower scheduling, forecasting, finance and administration, marketing and risk management. Collectively, they have more than 70 years of experience in the construction industry, as well as long tenures with hardison/downey itself.
JUSTIN NEWMAN | PRESIDENT
A graduate of Northern Arizona University (NAU), Justin joins hardison/downey with 20 years of construction experience. He has a diverse project background ranging from alternative energy and public works to criminal justice and high-end residential projects, located throughout the country. Justin has tremendous industry knowledge and insight, as well as marketing, sales, construction and operational experience.
Along with being a graduate of the Arizona Builders Alliance Advanced Leadership Development Program, Justin also serves on the NAU Student Advisory Board and has previously served on the Executive Board of the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters and the Federal Affairs Committee of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.
Justin is a father of six and has been married to his wife, Kris, for seven years. In their free time together, they enjoy watching their children participate in sports and cheer/dance, as well as a good pick-up game of football, wiffle ball or basketball.
PAT DOWNEY | SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
Pat is a native of Tucson, Arizona and obtained his BS in Public Administration in 1976 with highest distinction, and a law degree in 1980 from the University of Arizona. Before co-founding hardison/downey construction, inc., he spent two years in a private legal practice with an emphasis in construction and real estate, and three years as an in-house counsel for a large construction and development company.
Since co-founding hardison/downey in 1985, Pat has directed the marketing and administration of the company, including bonding and banking, insurance, risk management and planning. He has also served as the "Principal in Charge" of select clients and projects. From 2013 - 2018, Pat served as President, overseeing all facets of the company. Currently, Pat has transitioned to the role of Senior Vice President and will remain with the company through 2019 in this role to assist the leadership team and transition.
Pat has been married to his wife, Debbie, for 19 years and is a father of three. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, outdoor activities and travel, particularly to San Diego.
HEATHER MARIN | VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS
Heather is a 24-year industry professional and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management from the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University. She joined the Kitchell family in January 2004 for Kitchell Custom Homes, working on notable projects such as Valley Ho Condos and The Mountain Project. An opportunity arose in late 2006 for Heather to begin her own contracting firm, which she successfully operated through 2015. However, her desire was strong to get back to her roots and build more complex and custom projects; therefore she returned to the Kitchell family in 2015. Since her return, she has been focused on key legacy clients for hardison/downey. Marin oversaw the successful completion of fourteen vertical structures across the expanse of a Private Golf development in north Scottsdale over three years, in addition to overseeing the development of the newly-formed self-perform Civil Group for hardison/downey.
Heather has been married to her husband Robert for 18 years and are parents of two wonderful daughters. They enjoy camping, spending time on the river, movie watching and continual projects around the house - ultimately anything they can do as a family.
CONRAD MUHLEMAN | DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
A California native, Conrad moved to Arizona in 1971 to continue college, attending ASU's Construction Engineering program. He later worked for a small developer building housing subdivisions, apartments, condominiums, commercial shell buildings and tenant improvements. With a partner in 1981, he continued in the construction field building speculative and custom homes and building a portfolio in tenant improvement work.
In 1995, Conrad joined hardison/downey as a Project Manager, primarily doing tenant improvements and renovations. His portfolio of projects includes work for Toyota, DHL, Caremark, Express Scripts and GoDaddy, to mention a few. More recently, he became Director of Operations, with direct day-to-day responsibility of the overall construction service operations for the company, including client services, safety, quality control, information technology and project management processes.
A father of two and a grandfather, Conrad has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 40 years and enjoys spending time with family, golf and cooking.
